James Sullivan's Color The Be Coloring Book is a fantastic resource for families! Throughout this difficult time of social distancing kids need strategies to manage stress. Mindfulness coloring is proven to decrease anxiety and disrupt a downward spiral of negative thoughts. The platform James created is easy to use and provides the option to color in both hardcopy and digital formats. I particularly like the varied list of “life lesson” phrases to choose from. i.e (Be Grateful) I am currently a school based social worker and plan on sharing this awesome coping strategy with the students I work with!

These coloring pages for young children/families offer teachable activities for learning about good values and good behavior. With lessons from cheerful, being a good friend to being grateful. Learning about the relationships children have with family, friends, teachers and community. Families can practice together coloring and talking about different feelings. For our CFCE (Coordinated Family and Community Engagement) program that includes the nine towns of the MTRSD/HRSD and Rowe, I will be sharing the - My Color The Be Coloring Book pages in the Family Play & Learning Kits that will be distributed. Art therapy in any form for young children is a wonderful tool to use.

Talking about how children are feeling with handling the Covid-19 virus that has impacted our lives can be challenging. I look forward to sharing the - My Color The Be Cloring Book with families and hearing back from them. I’ll also ask families to share the pages with their friends and families.

The Mary Lyon Foundation is pleased to partner with James Sullivan in this unique endeavor to provide a fun learning activity for young children. I am very impressed with the time, energy and thoughtfulness that James invested in this project, and I am especially pleased that he selected our foundation for the distribution of his coloring book. We hope that families everywhere will avail themselves of this early childhood learning opportunity. Although designed especially for preschool through grade two, Color The Be is fun for everyone in the family!
